Our senior year of college, my friend Meg, changed her birthday on Facebook from the correct date of July 13th to an incorrect date some random day in March.

She then waited to see who would write on her wall or send her a message wishing her a Happy Birthday on the wrong date. Anyone who did was instantly unfriended.

Luckily, I was with her when she hatched this plan, or I might have fallen victim. I still think this is one of the most clever tricks I’ve ever heard, and I tell the story more than anyone ever wants to hear.

My sister had entered in her birthday wrong on Facebook a few years ago (on accident). One day she came home from work and her roommate had baked her a cake, and thrown her a party.

They had to do it all over again the next month.

That’s a bullshit thing to do.

Just because people can’t remember your birthday doesn’t mean they don’t like you or care about you.

If people don’t know when your birthday is, that’s your fault for not reminding them.

The only people who should absolutely remember your birthday are your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse/lover and your parents. Even your siblings may forget.
