or just step inside one of nyc’s public schools. not the nice ones either, but the ones where the buildings are falling apart and have 35 kids in a classroom and you have to comfort a six year old because their are rats in the bathroom.
I don’t doubt any of this information one bit. That really breaks my heart.

tell me how we’re gonna judge the teachers that suck. tell me how we’re going to quantify that. more standardized testing?
I say, give the kids exit interviews about their teachers in an environment where their teacher won’t see or hear their answers. Children are very honest. Cross-referencing their answers with the children’s grades could give some insight into how effective a teacher that person was throughout the school year.
