Spice Girls - Stop

This song is grossly underrated, not only in the world of Spice Girls appreciation, but in the general world of pop music.

This is my favorite Spice Girls song, followed closely by Spice Up Your Life.

I like that this song is basically saying that the Spice Girls are going to go at the pace they see appropriate for the relationship. They refuse to be manhandled (or not) by someone who can’t respect what they want. A lover needs to follow an appropriate pace or get lost.

Personally, I’ll always love this song because it’s got some great pop elements. Horns, violins, a bangin’-ass breakdown, and I mean. Seriously? It’s the Spice Girls which automatically gives it a +5 bonus to Pam Liking-ness.

This song came out around the time I got my first professional job. I bought the CASSETTE so I could listen to it as I drove a far-too-many-horsepower-for-a-17-year-old Dodge Intrepid from South Carolina to Philadelphia, PA over 4th of July weekend. I was a teenager, gave absolutely zero fucks, and got my first speeding ticket listening to this song.

Last time I reblogged a Spice Girl song I woke up with it in my head. Let’s see if it happens again.

This is pure pop perfection and the reason the Spice Girls were designed. I once sang this at karaoke in Toronto. It was...
