So, a bunch of schools in NYC are getting shut down.
The thing is, that not only are these schools failing, but if you look at the locations of where the majority of these schools are? They’re in predominantly Black & Latino neighborhoods.
If it came down to school closings due to consistent low-performance in a lot of cities? There would hardly be any schools left in our neighborhoods. (I’m looking at you, Philadelphia.)
Oh, and by the way? None of the schools being shut down, truncated or even getting side eye from the NYC Department of Education are charter schools.
