When is the right time?
There is a time and place for negotiating gun law reform. Right now is not that time.
Hug your children and tell them you love them.It wasn’t the right time last week after the mall shooting.
It wasn’t the right time after the linebacker shot his girlfriend and himself.
It wasn’t the right time after Aurora.
It wasn’t the right time after the Sikh temple attack.
It wasn’t the right time after the guy in Minneapolis shot his ex-coworkers.
This list only covers the last 150 days and I’m certain that’s not even every incident.
When is the right time? It seems like the only time anyone outside of Mike Bloomberg even mentions gun control is when they’re saying it’s not the right time to discus gun control.
If we wait until we’re not in the immediate aftermath of an incident, we’re going to be waiting forever.

There are people on my dashboard saying, “This is not a political issue.”
No, my misbegotten darlings. This is the exact definition of a political issue. We can work towards prevent the next shooting through policy, compassion and a shift in culture. That is absolutely a political issue.
If y’all don’t like politics, feel free to say that. But attempting to paint mass murders and gun control as an issue that is not politically charged at all times is foolish and incorrect.
