I told my mom about what happened at Occupy Oakland

She said (and I am paraphrasing), “Well what did they do wrong? There’s no way police would use that kind of force if they hadn’t done something wrong.”

I told her, “That occupation is filled with Black and Latino people.”

She replied, “Oh, that’s what they were doing. Being people of color and standing up for themselves.”

President Obama, say something about Oakland, for humanity’s sake. Don’t ignore it. Please.

PLEASE.

PLEASE HELP THESE PEOPLE!

THE FIRST AMENDMENT IS BEING TEARGASSED AND SHOT FULL OF RUBBER BULLETS.

I will say it again, Occupy Oakland is among the most racially diverse occupations in the United States, and the violent raids of their peaceful occupation by the Police are obviously racially motivated.

Seriously, city governments? You should be ashamed.

You have better things you could spend your time and resources on than trying to figure out how to abuse your citizens who exercise their Amendment 1 right to peacefully gather and protest.

It blows my mind that you, City Governments, would rather put millions of dollars in resources towards stopping people who are hurting no one. You would raise rubber bullets at fellow citizens who would like to see a world that is better for all of us. You would dare imprison kind hearted souls who feed the homeless (Looking at you San Fran).

Shame on you, City Governments.

You suddenly discover resources you seemed not to have earlier this year to fight crime and actually stop people who produce dangerous drugs like Meth. You haven’t got the resources to go after people who rape your female AND male constituents, but you have time to pencil whip peaceful inhabitants of city parks. 

My mind is blown by the fact that you would send RIOT POLICE after peaceful protests in Oakland California. This is a move that I can only assume is racially motivated, as Oakland is among the most diverse occupations in our country.

Raise your weapons to people who are truly a danger to our safety. I can speak on behalf of my occupation by saying that they are not the peaceful gatherers who want to change the system to better all of our lives. 

Look elsewhere to fight crime, and stop hurting good people.
