I’ve really taken to adding comments to online petitions:
I refuse to allow this to continue.
As a poor, black, bisexual female, my voice and vote have already been marginalized enough by various aspects of our culture. I reject the idea that corporations can be treated as people. If a corporation’s dollars are speech, where is the vehicle to ensure that their speech is not more valuable than my vote? Where is the legislation to go along with this judicial —not congressional— decision, which outlines how when a corporation breaks a law, it is confined to one of the many prisons in this fine country of ours?
How are we even going to add new “people,” to how we define personhood when we are barely treating our women, people of color, people who love differently from us and believe differently from us like people?
